Xuhang straw weaving, a traditional technique of producing straw products such as hats and bags by braiding, was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.

The lecture was given by Wang Qin, inheritor of Xuhang straw weaving, in an effort to introduce the cultural heritage to more people and help preserve it.

Wang introduced attendees to the history and techniques of Xuhang straw weaving and the growing process of the straw, and displayed straw weaving products.

With Wang's help, the attendees also learned to make straw weaving cup mats on their own. Wang Hongnan, a resident taking part in the lecture, said he loves straw-braided products and considers Xuhang straw weaving quite delicate, beautiful, and environmentally friendly.
