( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2018-09-10

The 2018 Around China Self-driving Tour Championship (ACSC) on the National Highway 318 (G318) began at the Shanghai International Circuit in Anting town of Shanghai's Jiading district on Sept 3.

Jointly organized by the Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Center of the General Administration of Sport, and the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China, ACSC is China's largest self-driving tour-themed competition.

The competition, starting in Shanghai, will finish in Lhasa of the Tibet Autonomous Region in 15 days after passing through Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Chongqing, and Sichuan. The whole journey will have a distance of 4,408 kilometers.

The competition has altogether five sections, those being Shanghai-Anhui, Anhui-Hubei, Hubei-Chongqing, Chongqing-Sichuan, and Sichuan-Tibet. Competitors can choose to take part in different sections according to their location, ability and preferences.

Competitors are also being encouraged to exhibit and sell their special hometown products throughout the self-driving tour and donate the money raised after arriving in Tibet to help fight poverty in the area.

The G318, which connects Shanghai and Xigaze of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is considered by many the most beautiful road for self-driving tours in China.
