A workstation for the recruiting of talents and the innovation in technology opened in Hong Kong on Sept 26, a joint venture between the special administrative region and the Jiading district of Shanghai.

It is hoped that the workstation, relying on the advantages of Hong Kong's prosperous commerce and economy, active scientific and technological innovations and rich human resources, will further deepen Jiading's cooperation with Hong Kong and facilitate the attraction of more international talents.

Zhou Jinlin, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiading District Committee, introduced Jiading to the present Hong Kong students by calling it "an historical and cultural city in Jiangnan (area south of the Yangtze River)", "an international motor city", "a science and technology city", and "a city of innovation and vitality".

He also said that Jiading was willing to be the bridgehead for exchanges and cooperation between the two places. "I hope that everyone here can come to Shanghai and visit Jiading to find out your own development opportunities and make your dreams of innovation and entrepreneurship come true."

The two places will carry out regular exchanges on the matters of youth internships and employment, and the recruitment and cultivation of young talents.

Additionally, the 2019 Inno-China Entrepreneurship Competition was also introduced to students. The competition started in 2013 and is one of Shanghai's key projects to encourage and lure overseas talents to start-up businesses in China.

In 2015, it began expanding its presence beyond the Chinese mainland by setting up competition venues in Boston and Hong Kong. In 2017, the number of venues was expanded to more than 20 cities worldwide, including Cambridge and Munich.

Jiading built its first talent recruiting workstation in London, Britain in June 2016.
