Benteler Automotive (China) Investment Limited (Benteler Automotive Component (Shanghai) Co., Ltd)

Benteler started out 140 years ago as a small ironmongery store in Bielefeld, Germany and is now a global group of companies engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of safety-relevant products, systems and services for the automotive, energy and engineering sectors.

It is a family business now owned by the fourth generation of the founding family. Under the umbrella of the strategic holding company Benteler International AG, based in Salzburg, Austria, the group is structured in the two divisions of Benteler Automotive and Benteler Steel/Tube.

Benteler Automotive opened its production plant and Asia Pacific Headquarters in Jiading district, Shanghai in April 2013 with an investment of $38.9 million.

The site, with an area of about 45,000 square meters, hosts a press shop, equipped with a decoiling press line and transfer presses for the production of high complex automotive steel stampings, and a welding shop dedicated to the production of chassis parts for local and international OEMs in the automotive business.

The site also hosts a five-storied office facility, new home of Benteler Automotive Asia Pacific Headquarters, including engineering, development and commercial teams. More than 500 employees are working at the site.
