The Shanghai Scientific Instrument Factory, a branch of the China Academy of Space Technology, occupies a 70,000-square-meter piece of land in the northern part of the city of Jiading.
It combines R&D wiith production and employs nearly 1,000 people, 48 percent of them professional and technical personnel. It has at least 100 products that have won national, ministerial, and provincial awards for their scientific and technological advancement. Its main electronic and machinery products include satellite control and tracking equipment, satellite data equipment, meteorological cloud-image receivers, v-sat communications stations, r-type transformer silicon steel belt cutters, and computer boxes and cabinets. it can also design, process, and produce electronic machinery equipment and state-of-the-art processing and test instrument for machinery and electric products.
These include the Hardinge Company's 42 machining center, the VMC 700 vertical boring and milling center, the Trumpf Company's Traumatic 200 program-controlled multi-purpose processing center, an smt production line and the related CAD and CAM design tools.
