The company is a joint venture established in July 1995 by SAIC Motor and German Continental AG. The total investment is $130 million, with the stocks being equally controlled by the two sides. Located in the Jiading Industrial Development Zone in the northwest of Shanghai, the company now employs 483 people. It is the first Chinese enterprise that introduced advanced technologies to produce braking calipers, anti-lock braking systems, and master cylinder and back cylinder boosters. The ABS produced by the company was included into the 10th Five-Year Plan as a priority project and the company is the only specialized enterprise in China that is capable of systems development.

The company specializes in producing anti-lock braking systems, braking calipers, boosters, sensors and braking piles and supplying them to Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Faw-Volkswagen, Faw and other automakers. In addition, the company has an engineering and technical center built with an investment of nearly 20 million yuan to develop systems required by different customers.
In accordance with the board of directors resolution, the company has completed a merger with Shanghai Kangdi Automotive Braking Systems Ltd. The merger further expanded the company's product lines and turned the company into a leading supplier of automotive braking systems.
