The opening ceremony of the fourth Nine-Minute Film-Making Competition - co-organized by Beijing Film Academy and China Film Critics Society – was held in Shanghai's Jiading district on August 8, with over100 people - including filmmakers and members of the organizing committee - attended the event.
Lin Xujian, a native Jiading director, said that "this is a great platform for rookies to make a difference" and he hopes to make an inspiring film in this competition.
This initiative - the only national project to support young film makers - was launched on May 5, and has thus attracted over 300 participating teams, among which only 12 ones entered the final round of shooting in Jiading.
Qiu Qi, chief planner of the competition, said that "Jiading is a natural film studio" and that "the competition will help demonstrate its charm as a combination of modern civilization and historic value.
