Jiading's Shanghai International Auto Town is the biggest and most comprehensive auto industry base in the Asia-Pacific region. The auto town is one of four industry bases initiated by the Shanghai municipal government and the Party committee in 2001.
The Jiading district government applied to host the first Shanghai Auto Festival for the purpose of establishing an auto town image in Jiading, utilizing auto culture to promote the harmonious development of industrialization and urbanization, and building a distinctive and competitive festival brand. The municipal government also decided the festival should be held every two years.

Here you can take a ride on the world's most advanced and challenging F1 race track. You can also drive on Asia's best kart track or simulate the driving experience in different styles of cars. You will be able to have a close look at about 70 historic cars since the invention of the automobile in the auto museum, the first in China.
Not far from the auto town is an old street market where a mixture of folk art and traditional snacks are displayed. There are old dramas, delicious food, folk artists, famous calligraphies, Chinese paintings, jade and strange stones.
