More than 50 classic cars from 22 countries and regions around the world were on show at the Classic Cars Challenge China, or 4C, which came to a conclusion at the Shanghai Automobile Museum in Jiading district's Anting town on Oct 18. It was the first international event for classic cars to be held in China.
Visitors were especially interested in the 1929 Austin, convertible Hongqi – Red Flag - from 1958, and the Maserati from 1977, and many posed for pictures in front of their favorite cars.
Jacky Ickx, the Belgian former racing driver who achieved 25 podium finishes in Formula One, and Dong Hebin, a Dutch Chinese driver who won the Race of Champions (ROC) China in 2009, attended the event in a 911 Carrera Cabriolet 3.2, a classic Porsche sports car.
In addition, several professional drivers arrived at the event after driving a total of about 1,800 miles from Beijing.
Li Sijian, president of the Shanghai Automobile Museum, said that the event was a totally new experience for the Chinese public.
