Finals of the 2014 Demo China, an innovation competition for start-ups, were concluded in Jiading district, Shanghai, from March 26 - 27.
In all, 39 enterprises stood out from more than 2,000 competitors pursuing the DEMO GOD award and investments, by demonstrating their projects in six special fields, including Internet finance and cultural creativity.
The entrepreneurs were required to introduce their projects in six minutes, and they had to go through a blizzard of questions from the jury.
Between rounds of the competition, experts from such companies as Tencent and Amazon were invited to share their experience and opinions on the future of the industries.
Among the 39 enterprises, seven are from Jiading, about twice as many as last year, with most of them in the cultural creativity business. In addition, more than 200 Jiading companies were present at the finals, half of them being investment organizations.
Demo China, co-organized by cyzone.cn and the Jiading government this year, has become the most influential platform for innovative technologies, products, and business patterns, said Chen Taoyu, commercial director of cyzone.cn. During its eight-year run, the competition has helped 130 enterprises, including 91JinRong.com Inc, an online financial service platform, gain a total investment of $500 million.
This was the second year that the competition was held in Jiading.
