Shanghai’s Jiading district received a total of 188,100 tourists during May Day holiday, an increase of 39.9 percent compared with the same period in 2013.
According to the Jiading tourism bureau, during the public holiday all the scenic spots received 187,700 tourists without any complaints being recorded.
Meanwhile, the remaining visitors who traveled using agencies showed a noticeable decrease of 62.5 percent, with only 397 choosing this method during the public holiday.
“The metro transit Line 11 greatly shortens the distance from Jiading to downtown, so it appeals to a large number of tourists,” said a source from the tourism bureau.
Zhouqiao Old Street, Nanxiang Old Street and Guyi Garden are the most popular sights among all the attractions, and the newly constructed auto expo park has also been warmly received by some 40,000 sightseers.
In recent years, Jiading has at the same time held cultural activities such as an automobile festival and tourism festival, and these events have largely helped to promote the local tourism market and expand the popularity of Jiading district.
