There was an awards ceremony for the 4th Nine-minute Film Championship, in the city of Shanghai’s Jiading district, on July 6, with a total of 14 awards handed out.
Claiming the best picture award was the film The Barber, which also took the best cinematography award, while best director went to A Chest of Gold and best screenplay to Broiling Sun.
The head of publicity for the district, Lin Jun, was on hand to bestow the best picture award and a film fund award worth a million yuan ($160,100) to its director, Chen Congcong.
Lin went on to praise the contribution that the film competition makes to traditional culture and Jiading’s image and the dedication the participating artists have shown.
A total of 86 independent short films have been made since the competition began, garnering more than 90 domestic and international prizes, with some of the better works appearing on China’s national TV.
