Shanghai to promote electronic invoices in e-businesses

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2014-08-08

A symposium on the taxation of Shanghai’s e-businesses was recently held in Jiading.

A symposium on the taxation of Shanghai’s e-businesses was recently held in Shanghai’s Jiading district. The meeting was attended by the district’s deputy chief Sun Wei and 11 e-commerce enterprises including Jd.com, Baidu.com and Jumei.com. They discussed the taxation of service charges, the distinction between business tax and value-added tax and the promotion of electronic invoices in e-commerce.

Some e-businesses representatives said that the current promotion of electronic invoices cannot catch up with the development of e-commerce, and efforts should be made to enhance the public’s recognition and acceptability of e-invoices.

In response to that, an official from the local taxation bureau said Shanghai would continue to promote e-invoices in local e-commerce enterprises, whose number is expected to reach 30 by this September.
