Restoration of Hecha Mountain area completes

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2014-11-20

A regional restoration project of Hecha Mountain in Nanxiang, Jiading district, Shanghai, recently came to an end.

The project formed an architectural complex with the main scenic spots – a nunnery, a blockhouse and an ancient ginkgo tree – connected by greenbelts and walkways.

The nunnery, built in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), covers an area of 2 mu (1,300 square meters) with 18 houses. The project restored its old look and added some decorations featuring a Chinese legend.

Hecha Mountain, located near Huyi Highway, is currently recognized as a cultural relic protection site of Jiading district. The local government also plans to build a cultural and art center of Nanxiang in the area.
