Hamilton roars to China GP win

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2015-04-13

When Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team's driver Lewis Hamilton topped the podium, he was surrounded by cheers and thundering applauses from exciting fans, as the British driver roared to victory at the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit on April 12.

The 30-year-old British racer won with 1 hour 39 minutes 42 seconds, becoming the first driver defending victory in this event over the past 12 years.

Hamilton’s teammate, German racer Nico Rosberg trailed 0.7 second to join him in the front row, while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who stunned the Mercedes duo to win in Malaysia two weeks ago, came in the third place.

As the defending champion, Hamilton has registered three victories in Shanghai, namely in 2008, 2011 and 2014, since the launching of Chinese GP in 2004.

This year’s races have drawn about 145,000 audiences and the event was televised live and rebroadcast by more than 150 TV stations.
