State-owned enterprises in Jiading district offered 11 job opportunities to physically-impaired university graduates at a job fair on May 17.

A total of 48 disabled university graduates attended the job fair held by the district's Disabled Federation and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

Eleven enterprises offered jobs including associate engineer, customer service staff and program developer, with annual after-tax salaries ranging from 35,000 ($5,642) yuan to 65,000 yuan.

Zhu Liyan, one of the job seekers, had difficulties finding a suitable job with her bachelor's degree in mechanical and electronics. "I prefer jobs that are close to my home, offer fair promotion opportunities and benefit my career development," she said.

Although the jobs were targeted at disabled graduates, they have high demand for employees' abilities. There will be a face-to-face interview to test candidates’ communication skills, recruiters say.

Wang Weizhong, vice-director of Jiading district SASAC, said that State-owned enterprises should take social responsibility to help with the employment of disabled university graduates and give them fair opportunities of training and promotion with other workers.

It is estimated that there are 120 disabled university graduates under the age of 35 in Jiading district, of whom 32 have a bachelor's degree or above. Most of them have been employed but their jobs involve low skills and low payment.
