The Jiading district of the city of Shanghai has announced that it will be focusing on four emerging industries to boost its economy, the local media have reported, explaining that the areas of special interest are integrated circuitry and the Internet of Things; new energy and intelligent vehicles; high-performance and high-precision medical equipment; and intelligent manufacturing and robots.
The district government says that they plan to build four industrial bases and have an industrial cluster of more than 80 sci-tech companies involved with the Internet of Things with revenues reaching 8.5 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) by the end of 2017.
They say further that they plan to take advantage of the international electric vehicle demonstration zone in Anting town of Jiading, and to develop 10 leading enterprises in new energy vehicles and a cluster of 120 high-tech companies with a total annual output worth more than 5 billion yuan.
At the same time, output value of the high-performance and high-precision medical equipment sector is expected to reach 12 billion yuan, and that of the intelligent manufacturing sector is expected to reach 4 billion yuan, with an annual increase of 20 percent.
