A new trade market, mainly for vegetable and food items, with food safety its prime concern went operational in Jiading New City of Shanghai on Jan 9, local media reported.

The two-story market, first of its kind in the area covers a combined floor area of nearly 3,400 square meters.
With an area of 1,600 square meters, its first floor is for agricultural and sideline products, which feature vegetables, meat, aquatic products, bean products, eggs among others.
And it will have 21 rooms and 16 stands inside and nine stores outside along the street. Most of the stores are currently occupied and will go operational soon.

The 1,800-square-meter second floor will house restaurants with local flavors, a traditional Chinese medicine center, culture and arts training institutions and other facilities.
Local authorities said that the market follows strict management rules and things in it are kept in order.
Many local residents said that they are pleased to have such a market nearby, which is quite convenient. Due to the strict management of the market, they are not concerned about the food safety.
