A new neighborhood center in Jiading New City of Shanghai started trial operation on Feb 1, local media reported.
The center consists of four floors and covers a combined floor area of 7,400 square meters. It aims to be multifunctional with integration of daily life, medical, cultural, entertainment, and charity services.

The first floor offers public services where local residents can deal with their community affairs and get medical treatment.
The remaining three floors have rooms for dancing, reading, table tennis and parent-child interaction, among other activities. The center also houses a trade market, shops and restaurants.

According to local authorities, during the period of trial operation, the first to third floors will be open to the public on weekdays.
The term "neighborhood center" originated from a concept of new community services in Singapore. It is a kind of commercial center located in residential areas with multiple functions featuring shopping, culture, sports, healthcare and education.
