The Poly Grand Theater in Jiading district of Shanghai hosted an assembly on March 1 to celebrate the upcoming International Women's Day, which falls on March 8 every year, local media reported.
Female workers who worked hard and made great contributions to their jobs received awards at the assembly.
Zhou Jinlin, deputy Party chief of the district, extend cordial greetings to local females and express gratitude to the winners for their contribution to the development of the district.

Zhou also encouraged local female residents to learn from those role models and work together to build a better Jiading. He also urged officials to give stronger support to female workers who have difficulties in both work and life, so as to help them develop better.
To increase the influence of the women's organization in villages, the organization was renamed as Women's Federation. The main aim of the federation is to gather together outstanding females to make more contributions to their hometown.
A video was also played on the occasion to highlight their significant role in developing Jiading into a scientific and technological center.
