Jiading sites among Shanghai's top patriotic education bases

Two historical sites in Jiading district of Shanghai received recognition as advanced units of the city's patriotic education bases on March 11, local media reported.

The two places are -- Jiading Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs and Jiading Museum. Let's know the honored sites, in detail.

Jiading Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs

Established in 1959, the Jiading Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs covers an area of 53 mu (3.5 hectares) and aims to commemorate 741 martyrs who devoted their lives to the country's revolution. It consists of a graveyard, a historical document museum and an education base of incorruptibility.

The graveyard covers an area of 1,450 square meters and has six memorials as well as 17 large tombs. The museum takes up 800 sq m and boasts four exhibition rooms. The education base spreads out on an area of nearly 900 sq m and displays typical anti-corruption cases since ancient times through photos, documents and videos.

Jiading Museum

Jiading Museum was built in 1959 and moved in Jiading Confucius Temple in 1961. The new museum was open to the public in 2013. Now, Jiading Museum refers to a complex, consisting of the new museum, Jiading Confucius Temple, Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum and Fahua Pagoda. It has become a landmark in the district and is multifunctional with the integration of antique collection, protection, research, exhibition and education.
