Authorities in Jiading district of Shanghai announced the upcoming 2017 Public Cultural Week on March 16.

Spanning from March 24 to 31, the cultural week will stage a variety of programs, including Peking Opera performances, musical concerts, and dance shows.

Among the highlights are the appearance of the well-known operatic production company Shanghai Peking Opera House, a US dance group led by celebrated dancer Fadi J. Khoury, and a recital given by the Shanghai Festival Orchestra. Additionally, lectures will be given by famous artists and the local authorities hope the range of events will give Jiading residents informative and entertaining experiences.

To ensure Public Culture Week is as inclusive and accessible as possible, authorities have made sure to offer tickets at affordable prices as low as 30 yuan ($4.30), 50 yuan, and 80 yuan.

First launched in 2015, Public Cultural Week aims to provide local residents with quality cultural programs and services. Over the past two years, the event has attracted an audience of more than 10,000, with the help of Shanghai Poly Grand theatre.

Gu Huiwen, head of Jiading's publicity department, said that she hopes more quality programs will be offered to help make the event a key part of the area's annual cultural calendar.
