Shanghai's Jiading Museum launched a photo exhibition in late May to showcase the district's historical development over the past 800 years.

The exhibition, which is aimed at giving students a better understanding of Jiading's culture and history, will tour local universities and colleges, with the first stop being the Shanghai Vocational College of Science and Technology.

The photos are divided into three categories: historical development, culture and art, and celebrities, presenting different aspects of the district's development and cultural heritage and attracting people with different interests.

The exhibition also celebrates the 800th anniversary of Jiading's becoming a county, which happened in 1218 during the reign of Emperor Ningzong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). Jiading has always attached importance to culture and education which have helped form its unique traditions and customs.

The exhibition is also part of an "I Love Jiading" activity launched by the Jiading Museum. The activity is expected to increase the exposure of Jiading's history and culture and draw people's attention to the protection and preservation of traditional Chinese culture. The museum is seeking cooperation with more local universities and colleges such as Shanghai University and the School of Automotive Studies of Tongji University.
