Jiading sees upsurge of tourists during National Day holiday

Jiading district of Shanghai received a total of 441,000 visitors during the weeklong National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, a year-on-year increase of 29.3 percent, according to the district's tourism bureau.

The district's tourism revenue for this holiday reached 1.98 million yuan ($286,977.46), up 49.2 percent from last year.

Nanxiang Old Street, which is famous for its ancient-style buildings, was the most popular tourist attraction during the holiday with more than 133,000 tourists, followed by Zhouqiao Old Street scenic area, Guyi Garden, Shanghai International Circuit, and Jiabei Country Park.

The motorsport-themed tourist attractions were big hits with tourists. The 2018 Skoda Heros China Cycling Race was held in Jiading during this holiday, attracting more than 30,000 car fans. Shanghai Auto Museum, with its vast array of vintage cars on display and its showcasing of new energy vehicles and self-driving cars, welcomed more than 31,000 visitors.

The Jiading district government also paid attention to the management of tourist security and made emergency response plans in advance to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for visitors during their stay in Jiading.
