A photo exhibition in celebration of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up policy commenced in Guyi Garden, Jiading district of Shanghai, on Dec 17.

The policy that started in 1978 has helped create China's economic miracle, and is still considered as the only way for modern China to make progress in its development and to realize the Chinese Dream.

1978 was also a year that was a turning point for Guyi Garden, when it regained its feature as a classical garden.

Running until Jan 20, 2019, the exhibition consists of three sections under different themes – "Changes of the old garden", "A garden of four seasons" and "Stories with the garden".

The first section shows changes that have taken place in Guyi Garden in terms of landscapes, size, and gardening over the past 40 years according to the comparison of old and new photos.

The second one displays pictures of the most beautiful attractions in the garden during different seasons.

Nearly 100 old photos solicited from the public that tell various stories about family, friendship and love are exhibited at the third section.

Guyi Garden, built during the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty (1574-1620), is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Shanghai.

After several times of reconstruction and expansion, the garden has grown from the original 0.67 hectare to current 6.67 hectares in size.
