Virtual AI doctors step into Jiading factory

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2019-08-14

The shape of medical things to come arrived on the production line recently when a "one minute clinic" - involving man-to-computer conversations -- went into operation at a factory in Shanghai’s Jiading district operated by SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co.

Walking into the clinic, the first thing that stands out is a man-computer-conversation screen, equipped with a camera and microphone.

Click the on-screen button "ask doctors" and a greeting appears. Then, similar to a traditional doctor's interview – after regular questions relating to details about symptoms and the like are answered - the robot "doctor" makes a diagnosis and offers prescriptions or advice for recovery.

The well-received 24-hour self-service project, supported by artificial intelligence and big data, has offered medical and health services to employees nearly 4,000 times, which according to the company has saved a great deal in medical and labor costs.

A survey conducted by a JD App provides the insight that regarding the design and practice of employees' welfare, many companies refer to their competitors. Meanwhile, more and more of them are giving increasing attention to the staff's real needs.

According to industry insiders, smart welfare will become a major trend in the near future.
