A reading month activity that held in Shanghai's Jiading district wrapped up on Aug 30, local media reported.
The event launched roughly 170 promotion activities and entertained over 70,000 citizens throughout the month.
Jin Yao, a regular visitor to the library in Nanxiang town, won the championship in the reading contest held by the town during the event.
Nanxiang library has carried out "weekend story telling" activities for five to six years, which laid out a good mass base and attracted "regular reading teams" including white collar workers and their families, said Gao Yinhu, a person in charge.
In addition, the district library of Jiading and Jiaxing Library jointly held an article-collecting activity in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The reading month has been held in Jiading for 11 years in a row since 2008 in various forms, always providing great activities and encouraging the public to share the delights of reading.
