A biomedical industry alliance was established in Jiading Industrial Zone on Dec 15 and a number of biomedical projects were signed.
According to local authorities, the alliance consists of biomedical R&D and manufacturing enterprises, research institutes, universities, and financial investment institutions.
It is designed to accelerate the matchmaking of projects, technologies, talents and capital in the bio-medical industry chain, optimize allocation of resources, reduce research and development costs, and speed up the transformation of research results.

"Start-ups in the field of biomedicine cannot go it alone. The minimum investment for a public technology service platform to support their research and development is two or three million yuan, but their registered capital may only be that amount," said Xu Meifang, executive deputy director of Shanghai Jiading Advanced Technology Innovation and Business Incubator.
"For this reason, we have built a public technology service platform that integrates molecular module, cell module, virus packaging module and metabolomics module in the Bio-Cube Park to reduce the R&D cost of start-up."
The Bio-Cube Park, jointly established by Jiading Industrial Zone and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a professional incubator targeting biological medicine industry.

After five years of development, it has established a service mechanism covering technology platform, enterprise registration and application and talent cultivation.
The park has introduced 82 biopharmaceutical enterprises, among which 35 have started operation, with operating income exceeding 200 million yuan ($28.91 million).
From January to October this year, the value of biomedical industry in Jiading Industrial Zone reached 3.36 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 34.7 percent.
