Feb 10 is the first day back at work for many companies in Shanghai. By 12 am that day, Jiading district had allowed 42,728 employees from 304 manufacturing enterprises to resume work.
Zhang Shouyang from a local platemaking company said that entering the plant took a lot longer than usual, but it made him feel safe and secure.
First he had his temperature taken, and then he walked through a disinfection channel, where two humidifiers filled with diluted disinfectant were in full gear.
"The processes are even stricter for the 150 employees that returned to the dormitories in Shanghai. They must have their temperatures taken, be disinfected, register their detailed personal information, and be quarantined in their dorms for 14 days," said Ning Jianliang, a manager at the company.
"We are in charge of their meals and daily necessities, and they are not allowed to leave their dorms except to see a doctor," Ning added.
Thirty of the company's employees returned to work on the first working day, allowing the company to operate at 30 percent capacity. Normal operations are expected to resume by early March.
Hasco KSPG Nonferrous Components Co has arranged for its employees to have lunch in rotations.
"Our canteen is designed for 200 people to eat at the same time, but now, we are only allowing one person per table, so at most 30 people can eat simultaneously," said Sun Xuedong, general manager of the company.
The company has also stocked up on medical supplies, such as masks, disposable gloves, goggles, disinfectant, and sanitizer, which are expected to last the company at least a month.
Sun added that the company is currently able to operate at 45 percent capacity.
"Everything is in order and I'm confident that we will be at full capacity in a month," Sun said.
