Shanghai Metro Line 11 resumed normal operations on March 24 after being halted for nearly two months due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

According to local media reports, Shanghai Metro Line 11, the country's first inter-provincial metro linking Huaqiao town, Jiangsu province to Anting in Jiading district, Shanghai, resumed full operations on March 24. The metro comes every six to seven minutes during rush hours and every 10 to 12 minutes during off-hours.

A woman surnamed Ma, who lives in Huaqiao town in Kunshan city, Suzhou and works in Anting in Jiading district, Shanghai, said that due to the epidemic, it took her more time and money to get to work every day.

"I feel relieved now that Metro Line 11 is running again and my life can go back to normal," Ma added.

Rail transport makes life much more convenient for residents living in Huaqiao and Anting, and the resumption of the Metro Line 11 will prove to be a major relief for many.

Xu Dongqi, an official of Kunshan Rail Transit, said that all the stations on the Huaqiao Section of Metro Line 11 are equipped with thermal imaging systems to detect passengers' temperatures, and passengers are required to show their health codes before boarding.

Xu added that in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 cross-infection, e-tickets and mobile payments are promoted when taking public transport.
