Jiading district in Shanghai will launch 12 pairing-up aid programs with total investment of more than 36 million yuan ($5 million) to support poverty-alleviation projects in Shuangbai county, Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan province, according to reports of a meeting held June 10.
The money will be used in the county's agricultural industry and rural tourism, aiming to help it establish a production chain of featured agricultural products and promote the county's poverty alleviation work.
At the meeting, Shanghai United Imaging, which develops and produces a full portfolio of advanced medical products in Jiading, donated 3.9 million yuan to Shuangbai county.
Jiading District Central Hospital signed a cooperative agreement with the People's Hospital of Shuangbai, and said that the former will provide the latter with MRI remote consultations and diagnostic imaging services.
Jiading paired up with Shuangbai in 2017, and strengthened cooperation with the county in fields such as industry, talent cultivation and boosting the consumption of local products, helping the county lift itself out of poverty in 2019.
Since the COVID-19 epidemic, Jiading has rolled out an array of supportive measures to deepen collaboration on poverty alleviation between the eastern and western regions.
Statistics show that by the end of 2019, Jiading had set up 114 stores in the district for selling Shuangbai's characteristic agricultural products. The stores have played an active role in promoting healthier and better-quality products in the county.
