Ruijin Hospital Proton Therapy Center Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine started trial operations of the first domestic proton treatment device June 28.
According to a local news report, the hospital will provide comprehensive cancer treatment, such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy, and make full preparations for the clinical testing of the proton treatment device.
At the launch ceremony, Ning Guang, president of Ruijin Hospital, said that the hospital will ramp up efforts to make it a demonstration base for cancer treatment and an oncology medical center at international level.
Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading district, said that the proton therapy center was making a leap forward in the application of the device, which will speed up the development of cancer treatment and clinical research, offering more medical services to patients, as well as helping Jiading build a global highland of medical industrialization.
