Jiading district in Shanghai has ramped up efforts to promote innovative development over the past years, with 288 enterprises having set up research and development centers in the area, according to a local news report.
Currently, Jiading is cultivating a new industrial incubation system focusing on "leading enterprises and industries", in an effort to accelerate the construction of the Shanghai Smart Sensor Industrial Park, which was launched in October 2019 by the Shanghai Government. The park is expected to help promote the commercialization of scientific and research findings.
MCube, provider of the world's smallest MEMS motion sensors, established its joint laboratory at the Shanghai Smart Sensor Industrial Park, the first of its kind in Shanghai. Supported by the advantageous strengths provided by the park, the laboratory will achieve a monthly shipment of 6 million chips.
Statistics show that by September 2020, 310 smart sensor enterprises had settled in the park. Over the past year, the park has increased its efforts to accelerate the construction of an industrial chain and a supply chain, aiming to achieve high-quality development of the city's smart sensor and intelligent internet of things industries.
Colleges, universities, and scientific research institutions in Jiading have opened 69 public service platforms to enterprises, a move that has acted as a growth engine for the development of the district's innovative projects. Statistics show that the transaction value of technology contracts has reached more than 5.65 billion yuan ($864.45 million).
The local government's efforts have contributed to the growth of Jiading's innovative development. Local authorities said that in recent years, Jiading has taken advantage of the spillover effect of its technological and scientific development. Jiading's Juyuan New Area, which is home to the Jiading Innovation and Entrepreneurship Building, has attracted more than 1,000 science and technology companies and five national scientific research institutions. The area has offered high-quality services to micro, small and medium-sized technology companies by cooperating with third-party platforms.
