Jiading district in Shanghai is now home to more than 1,800 high-tech firms, second in China only to Pudong, Shanghai, local news reported on Jan 8.
The three areas in Jiading with the largest number of high-tech enterprises are the Jiading Industrial Zone, Nanxiang town, and Anting town, and the three areas also have solid industrial foundations and strong innovative capacity.
"Jiading boasts a strong environment for scientific and technological innovation," said Ding Guqiao, general manager of a Jiading-based graphene company.
Ding added that the company has established a cooperative relationship with the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology and set up a joint laboratory for graphene materials and application. With the help of the laboratory, the company has applied for 29 patents and registered seven trademarks, providing strong growth momentum for the company's innovative development.
Jiading has already developed into a hub for sci-tech innovation resources, and the district has also made significant achievements in the reform of administrative procedures in order to remove obstacles to the development of enterprises.
Thanks to continuous efforts by the local government, the number of high-tech enterprises in Jiading expanded from 854 in 2017 to more than 1,800 this year. These enterprises are making Jiading more innovative and injecting it with new growth momentum.
