Jiading district in Shanghai will promote the development of competitive and characteristic industries, as well as cultivate a modern industrial system focusing on high-end manufacturing and modern services, according to Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading district.
In the next five years, Jiading will accelerate the development of its automobile industry, as well as continue to boost its pillar industries, including the automobile, smart sensors, the internet of things, high-powered medical equipment, and precision medicine industries, to foster new growth drivers.
Over the past few years, Jiading has fostered an overall layout of building an innovative chain of new energy vehicles (NEVs), as well as auto parts manufacturing, in an effort to achieve high-end, green, and smart growth.
Shanghai Auto-Tech Innovation Park in Jiading opened to the public in 2015 and was ranked by the Shanghai municipal government as a new industrial demonstration base for intelligent connected vehicles.
According to the local government's development plan, the park will put its focus on the research and development (R&D), as well as manufacturing of NEVs and key NEV auto parts, such as batteries, electric machines, and electrical control machines, in an effort to cultivate an intelligent industrial chain for NEVs.
Local authorities of Shanghai International Auto City said that Shanghai Auto-Tech Innovation Park will house 10 technique centers at the municipal level and 100 high-tech enterprises to bolster efforts in developing the park into a demonstration base for NEV experimentation and testing.
The district's development plan said that the output value of Jiading's NEV sector will reach 100 billion yuan by the end of 2025, and that the district will be home to more than 100 automobile enterprises above designated size. A competitive industrial chain for the manufacturing and R&D of NEVs and auto parts will be established by that time.
Relying on its superior advantages in scientific research, Jiading will promote the development of high-end medical equipment and precision medicine, as well as smart sensors and the internet of things (IoT) during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, aiming to expand the output value of these pillar emerging industries to exceed 100 billion yuan.
Shanghai Smart Sensor Industrial Park launched in October 2019 in Jiading. It has played a leading role in promoting Shanghai's smart sensors and intelligent internet of things industries. The park is expected to be home to 300 smart sensors and IoT enterprises by 2025.
Efforts will also be made to boost Jiading's modern services in the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Currently, the district has established characteristic chains for modern services, including automobile services, science and technology services, cultural information services, as well as trade services.
