Porsche, a top racing car manufacturer in the world, unveiled Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific at a forum on June 19, which marked the first racing car company to settle in Shanghai Jiading Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
"Jiading is the key for Shanghai to build a world-class automotive industry center, as well as the base for Porsche Motorsports in China and in the Asia-Pacific region," said Jens Puttfarcken, president and CEO of Porsche China.
With the establishment of the company, Chinese consumers will be able to buy Porsche cars and related services directly in RMB. The cars will be stored in the bonded zone in order to avoid the complicated procedures brought by overseas transportation and storage, as well as to reduce costs.
Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading district, said that the district will develop the racing car industry into a leading industry.
The Shanghai International Racing Auto Service Center was also unveiled at the forum, covering racing car design and development, storage, display, trading, as well as maintenance.
At the forum, other renowned racing brands like Ferrari and Aston Martin also expressed their willingness to cooperate with Jiading district in the future to boost its racing car industry.
