Jiading district is making progress on the building of an intelligent traffic system by boosting 5G autonomous driving, internet of vehicles, the online coordinated development of vehicles and roads, and building smart transportation infrastructure.
Jiading district received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2015 to build the first national-level demonstration area for internet of vehicles.
The district has opened a 315-kilometer road to the public for testing. The whole demonstration area will be opened by the end of 2022.
A group of leading companies such as Baidu Apollo, Pony.ai, and AutoX have achieved a cumulative test mileage of approximately 1.11 million kilometers and a test duration of about 62,000 hours, showing that Jiading's internet of vehicles is developing from testing to application and commercial operations.
The construction of the smart transportation demonstration road on Baiyin Road in Jiading New City has also made progress.
In the 371-meter demonstration section, sensing devices such as roadside information management integrated boxes, road information collections, smart signal lights, and zebra crossings have been mostly completed.
The sensing devices at the intersection will collect traffic data during rush hours, based on which dynamic interferences and adjustments will be made to improve the road's capacity, said Zhao Yi of Seisys, a solution provider in the intelligent systems industry.
After completion, the 1.5-km smart transportation demonstration section of Baiyin Road will form a series of digital application scenarios such as commuting guarantees, public transportation priority, health diagnosis, smart management, and special vehicle priority in order to provide solutions for urban transportation.
