German firm Continental and Chinese chipmaker Horizon Robotics signed an agreement on Sept 29 to establish a joint venture in Jiading district to offer solutions for advanced assisted driving and automatic driving.
Research and development is vital to the development of smart driving, which is based on advanced assisted driving and automatic driving. As such, the joint venture will facilitate the commercialization of automobile intelligent technology.
"With the establishment of the new joint venture, we are able to combine cutting-edge artificial intelligent technology with manufacturing and quality process to create powerful and cost-effective products," said Frank Petznick, head of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems business unit at Continental.
The joint venture has signed agreements with Jiading Industrial Zone and Elektrobit, a leader in automotive software, to further boost R&D and the production of products related to automated driving.
Continental is committed to developing innovative technologies and services to provide solutions for sustainable connected ride and transportation. It currently employs more than 193,000 people in 58 countries and regions.
Horizon Robotics has commenced mass production of automotive intelligent chips and will continue to push the boundaries of innovation in AI processors, AI algorithms, AI compute systems and AI toolchains.
