The 2021 Precision Medicine Industrialization (Shanghai) Summit was held in Nanxiang town, Shanghai's Jiading district on Oct 12, attracting experts and talents in the precision medicine sector.
Participants discussed topics like the innovative development of precision medicine through big data, smart medicine, the integration of industry, university, and research, as well as accurate diagnosis and precision treatments through presentations and roundtable forums. They also shared their latest research achievements at the summit.
For instance, Xu Tian, vice principal of Westlake University, detailed the cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements like the world's first artificial intelligence medical product, which attracted nearly $5 billion in IPO financing in 2021, as well as the world's first mobile ultra-low magnetic resonance instrument, which was launched in 2021.
Domestic companies have also made achievements in the digitalization of precision medicine. For instance, the Pathogen Capture Engine, an online AI pathogenic microorganism data analysis system invented by Hugo Biotech, has achieved a detection accuracy of over 80 percent, which is much higher than the current average accuracy.
As the biomedicine industry is one of the pillar industries in Shanghai, Jiading district has been bolstering its efforts to boost the precision medicine sector in recent years. The district is home to leading companies and key projects in precision medicine, such as Shanghai Cell Therapy Group, the National Center for Liver Cancer, and Shanghai Mengchao Cancer Hospital.
