Recently, the "Red Cross Society Ten Million People Helping Ten Thousand Families" campaign was launched to help needy families during Spring Festival, with a target of giving 1,000 yuan ($147.5) to individuals in need in Jiading, benefitting 1,000 families throughout the district.
The target group of this activity is needy families with cancer patients, patients with mental problems and other families suffering from poverty due to illnesses and accidents. The campaign also helps some of the elderly under the "Humanitarian Assistance for the Elderly with Severe Dementia at Home Project".
Over the past few days, the Red Cross Society of Jiading district has organized Red Cross staff and volunteers from various places to provide a range of humanitarian services to people in need, including blood pressure checks, health advice and rescue skills training.
Li Feng, director of the Jiading District Red Cross Society Affairs Center, said that there are a total of 1,000 people to be assisted in Jiading district in 2023, and 1,000 yuan will be given to individuals in need, with the total amount of funds being 1 million yuan.
"As we approach the Chinese New Year, we hope our actions will make them feel the care and warmth of the community," Li added.
