Agreements on eight key projects, with a total investment of more than 5 billion yuan ($722 million), were signed at an investment promotion conference held recently in the Jiading area of Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, a major economic growth pole for regional development.
These projects were from enterprises like Greenfield Capital Group and Celgen Biopharma, covering fields like digital economy, technology-based life sciences, low-carbon new energy, as well as industrial clusters of startup automakers.
"Thanks to the government's one-stop services, we have avoided a lot of detours in the process of settling down. The positioning of North Hongqiao is consistent with our industry. We will promote innovation, provide the best services for customers, and contribute more to the growth of the local economy," said Wu Hao, executive deputy general manager of China Postal Mobile Automobile Sales and Service Shanghai.
Last year, the Jiading area of the Hongqiao International CBD attracted a number of well-known enterprises, including Nio and Hejun Zongda Data Technology. It also attracted headquarters projects from ASA Tiles and Donghao Lansheng, as well as six research and development headquarters, including those by Yifei Group and Beijing Gold Concord Group.
Yu Chen, vice-president of the public affairs office at Nio, said the company has more than 10,000 employees in Shanghai. Relying on its headquarters in the Hongqiao International CBD, Nio will enhance the global competitiveness of its R&D, supply chain, and market expansion.
During the event, nearly 50 companies were commended. Of them, 20 companies, including Totole, Huazhu, and Nio, won the Strength Contribution Award.
Approved by the Non-Governmental Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Association, a special committee on the development of specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products was unveiled. It will aim to boost the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, providing them with services covering internationalization, digitalization, and branding.
