Mansoor Alam, who works as a key account sales manager at Zhejiang Tengen Electric Co, is from Pakistan. After learning about China's history from textbooks, Alam has been interested in the country since he was a little boy.
After receiving his bachelor's degree in Pakistan, Alam chose to pursue a master's degree in electrical engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, which is located in Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
When first coming to China, Alam couldn't speak Chinese, but he received plenty of help from his Chinese friends. According to Alam, a fruit shop owner once gave him a bag of strawberries for free because the owner knew he was homesick, and after moving to Shanghai for work, his landlord reduced his rent by 400 yuan ($58.1).
Alam relishes in the comfort and convenience of Shanghai. He often strolls around Shanghai's streets where modernism and classicism clash, and hopes that his father can visit soon.
Currently, Alam is quite familiar with Chinese we-media platforms, including Douyin (TikTok) and Wechat Video, and can fluently introduce products from his company in Chinese.
