Carmakers from Shanghai's Jiading district are displaying their latest vehicles and technologies at the ongoing 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
The exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai 2023, is being held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai and will run from April 18 to 27. With 13 indoor exhibition halls, it boasts an exhibition area of more than 360,000 square meters. About 1,000 enterprises from 20 countries and regions are participating in the auto show, and around 1,500 vehicles are being displayed, according to the organizer.
Nio debuted its high-end intelligent electric SUV ES6 and launched the updated electric flagship sedan ET7. The on-site demonstration of its third-generation battery swap station at the booth wowed the crowds of visitors. Nio's first 10 third-generation battery swap stations were put into operation on April 13 in 10 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, with a total of 1,342 swap stations built nationwide.
The recently launched Tharu SUV from SAIC Volkswagen, one of the first joint ventures in the country's automotive industry, made its debut at the show. It sports the all-new 1.5T EVO II engine.
With a maximum output of 118 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 250 Newton meters, the new engine has increased its output by over seven percent but cut fuel consumption by nearly nine percent.
For tech-savvy customers, the model has a range of features, such as the 10.25-inch digital LCD instrument cluster, 12-inch infotainment display, and IQ. Connectivity, with its safety is enhanced through features like IQ. Light and IQ. DRIVE.
For customers looking for more adventure, the New Tharu also comes in a 2.0-liter turbo version with 4MOTION and seven driving modes, perfect for both city and off-road driving.
