Shanghai Huating Hami Melon Picking Festival kicks off

The seventh Shanghai Huating Hami Melon Picking Festival kicked off at the Huating Hami Melon Theme Park in Huating town, Jiading district, Shanghai, on May 20 and will last until June 30.

During the commencement event, a diverse range of melons were showcased, comprising 20 distinct types of Hami melons and 19 novel varieties of watermelons. The attendees were cordially invited to experience the delectable flavors of these melons. A multitude of melon types from Huating will be making their way to the market throughout the festival.

"We want to inform more citizens about Huating specialties through the festival. Next, we will combine the advanced technology of agricultural Internet and rural tourism promotion to further improve the planting quality, accommodation environment, and services," said Wu Qiang, the person in charge of Huating Hami Melon Theme Park.

During the festival, the theme park will also hold fun agricultural activities such as crayfish fishing competitions, carrying melons competitions, and creative fruit plate competitions.
