Construction of the Shanghai Qingtao R&D Center project in the Central Activity Area of Jiading New City in Shanghai's Jiading district recently started.
The 500-million-yuan ($69.98 million) center is expected to be put into use in 2025 and generate an annual output value of 1 billion yuan.
The project, which spans 41,967.18 square meters, includes the Qingtao New Materials Global Innovation Center, the Qingtao Solid-state Power Battery Data Analysis Center and the Qingtao Solid-state Power Battery Comprehensive Service Network Platform.
Shanghai Qingtao Technology Development Co Ltd, or Shanghai Qingtao, is a subsidiary that was established by Qingtao (Kunshan) Energy Development Co Ltd. It focuses on the research and development of new materials and new energy.
Qingtao (Kunshan) Energy Development Co Ltd was founded in 2016 by the team lead by Nan Zewen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The company has built the world's first large-scale production line of solid-state power lithium batteries have been used in the fields of new energy vehicles and energy storage.
