​Jiading celebrates Cultural and Natural Heritage Day

Shanghai's Jiading district will carry out more than 80 cultural activities throughout June to celebrate the 18th China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which took place on June 10 this year, according to information released on the district's official website.

The activities held across the district include exhibitions, performances, lectures, training sessions, college trips, master-apprentice classes, weaving competitions and lantern riddle courses aimed at allowing residents to learn more about intangible cultural heritage culture.

Guyi Garden, a classical Chinese garden which is the main venue for the celebrations in Jiading, staged performances about traditional opera art and traditional music to showcase intangible cultural heritage items on June 10. Intangible cultural heritage markets, handicraft interactions, exhibitions, and live broadcast interactions were also held.

An exhibition of bamboo weaving techniques and works will be held from June 1 to 30 at the Jiading Cultural Center, while an exhibition of Jiading's 12th batch of intangible cultural heritage items will be held from May 31 to June 30 at the Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum.

An exhibition of intangible cultural heritage batik works will be held from June 9 to 30 at the Waigang Cultural and Sports Service Center.
