The list of the 2022 Shanghai top 100 "little giant" companies was recently released. Among them, 18 enterprises are based in Jiading district.
"Little giant" companies are elite small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that specialize in niche sectors, make up a high market share, and have a strong innovation capacity.
The list organizers evaluated 500 Shanghai-based "little giant" companies by looking at several indicators, including comprehensive strength, scientific and technological innovation, enterprise credit, core capabilities, and industry promotion.
Nouya, a new material technology company based in Jiading, made the list. "We are on the list because of our excellent performance in the comprehensive strength, scientific and technological innovation, core competence and social responsibility categories," said Xiao Chensong, secretary to the chairman and assistant to the general manager of Nouya.
By the end of 2022, Nouya has applied for 151 patents and successfully obtained 87 of them.
Sanyou, a medical equipment company in Jiading, is also on the list. According to Ma Yuli, director of research and development (R&D) in Sanyou, all of the company's products have patented technology. As of June 20, Sanyou has obtained 32 registration certificates and 154 patents for Class III medical devices. In the first quarter of this year, Sanyou's revenue increased by more than 24 percent year-on-yea, while its R&D investment also increased by about 16 percent year-on-year.
Official statistics show that Jiading district is currently home to a total of 813 municipal-level enterprises that use special and sophisticated technologies to produce unique products. It is also home to another 70 national-level "little giant" enterprises, ranking Jiading second in terms of total numbers among the city's 16 districts.
These companies are the strength and driving force for the high-quality development of Jiading's industries. They also promote local industrial development through new science and technology.
