The opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games on Sept 23 in the host city of Hangzhou - capital of East China's Zhejiang province - was widely praised as being a magnificent display of visual effects, with key contributions from Nuctopus, a studio based in the Jiading district of East China's Shanghai.

It was an extraordinary debut for the ongoing games, which started on Sept 23 and wind up on Oct 8.

Three of the tide-themed programs at the opening ceremony created and designed by Nuctopus showcased a visual spectacle that left the audience in awe.

As a film development and production team, Nuctopus has a special advantage in creating head-turning visual effects for big events. With their expertise in researching, organizing and planning the underlying story and theme expression of the visual performance, the team members carefully integrated the most suitable visual elements to enrich the final content, said Huang Chen, the team leader.

Huang said the programs involved interaction with actors, character animation and film-level special effects.

One of the programs showcased the natural beauty of Hangzhou, with the Nuctopus team's extravaganza interacting with the egret actors and culminating in the combination of nebula and water, leaving a lasting impression with spectators.

To ensure efficiency in the creative process, Nuctopus used all its AI auxiliary tools, aligning with the concept of the "Digital Asian Games" for this year's Hangzhou Asian Games.
