Shanghai's Jiading unveils over 200 cultural and tourism activities for Spring Festival

The launch ceremony for Spring Festival-themed cultural and tourism activities to be held in Jiading district took place at the Jiading District Cultural Center in Shanghai on Jan 24, marking the beginning of a series of festive cultural events celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dragon.

Jiading district is set to host over 200 holiday cultural and tourism activities that combine traditional and modern elements and cover diverse experiences, including art exhibitions, cultural experiences, old street festivities, intangible cultural heritage displays, local delicacies, and online activities.

The launch ceremony featured the unveiling of the "Dragon Soars in Prosperous Times" calligraphy and painting exhibition by renowned artists Qin Xueyan and Bao Shiwu. The exhibition showcased their masterpieces, symbolizing prosperity and auspiciousness.

Another exhibition showcasing a variety of creative artworks related to the dragon, such as woven dragon-shaped bags, jade dragon ornaments, and embroidered dragon fans, opened on the same day, highlighting the diverse and contemporary inheritance and innovation of Jiading's intangible cultural heritage.

During the holiday, residents can enjoy various cultural and artistic experiences at the Jiading Museum and Han Tianheng Art Gallery, as well as a range of "Welcoming the New Year" events at the Nanxiang Old Street, where a lantern display is set to be held, the Anting Old Street and the Zhouqiao Scenic Area.



Time to view winter flowers in Guyi Garden

Winter has yet to end, but the scenes at Guyi Garden in Shanghai's Jiading district has been anything but dreary thanks to the colorful pink and yellow flowers hanging off the olive and wax plum trees and the Spring Festival decorations that were recently put up.
