Shanghai's Jiading district recently attracted 17 new intelligent connected vehicle projects with a total investment of 3.24 billion yuan ($447.88 million) during the 2024 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference.
Companies like ZF Asia Pacific and Mogo Auto are among the investors. "We will gradually shift our core research and development centers towards Shanghai. We hope to make Jiading as our second center, or possibly even our largest center," said Yang Luowei, vice-president of Mogo Auto.
The signing of new project agreements and collaborations with companies like Hesai Technology and Tongyu Automobile further solidify Jiading's position as an emerging hub for the intelligent connected vehicle industry. With a focus on high-quality development, Jiading is actively shaping itself into a model for the coordinated development of intelligent city infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicles in China.
According to local officials, Jiading aims to become a global leader in the intelligent connected vehicle industry, emphasizing autonomous driving, intelligent rental operations, and cross-regional connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta. The district is also fostering partnerships with industry leaders such as Baidu and SAIC Volkswagen to leverage intelligent connected vehicle data resources and drive innovation.
